Before the HSC

It is now 9:25 pm, 16th of October, 2008.

There are exactly 12 hours, 0 minutes until my first HSC exam, English Paper 1.

How do I feel?

I don’t know.

Because I know I won’t stuff up.

But I also know I won’t ace the exam either.

So how should I feel?

Preparations are going well, I can manage the time limit.

My short story is good, but not as good as I would like it to be.

This will be the last entry I make for another two and a half weeks until that fateful day, Nov. 4, which I will forever remember as the day I was set free.

Free, haha, I laugh at that word. It meant so little before, and it means so little now. But I’m sure it’ll be a good day.

I doubt any fellow 2008′s are reading this,

but I just want to wish the thousands of HSC students

good luck

and all the very best.

See you all once we come out the other end.

The quiet of night.

Have you ever been up late at night and just realised how quiet it is? I love it. No cars, no birds, nothing. Everything is still in my house, besides me, typing away at my keyboard. Darkness outside, inside, rather than “scary”, I find it’s like a protective covering. It gives me a kind of strange privacy from neighbors, my parents.

Did I mention how much I like this silence? Oh, I did?

My work rate increases exponentially as the hours go past 11, ticking into early early morning of the next day. From 4 in the afternoon til 8 after dinner-ish, I’m pretty bludgy. It’s just so much easier to concentrate and focus when everybody else is asleep, and it’s all quiet and peaceful. Besides, there’s also the added pressure of “must finish before I go to sleep”.

Well, this concludes my day, got some decent study and work done just a moment ago. Time to go to bed.

Nighties.

Sometimes the title I want to write will get me sued by a major company with its own lawyers.

Yesss, well, haven’t been here for a while now. And as you can see, I am evidently quite bored and will post up something dodgy. At least, dodgy-er than usual. “Dodgier” doesn’t seem like a word.

This was ages ago, but most people will recognise this is the 4:30 Channel 7 news. I’m quite a fan of Channel 7 news, I have no idea why. But here’s the pictures I took:

SO!

Who here can spell “Adealaide”?

Not only that, but the guy’s face was so retarded when I took the picture. XD Hilarious

I am quite slack.

The Trials are Here

First exam from 9:05 to 11:15 was English Paper One today, examining us on a section of Reading Comprehension style questions on unseen texts, a section on creative writing provided with a stimulus, and the third section as an essay question on the Area of Study, which is journeys.

As a whole, it was a fiasco, I didn’t justify myself very well in the first section, while I didn’t finish my creative writing piece =(. The essay question was reasonably simple, without any tricks.

Since 3:00 pm, I have been practising from tomorrow’s Paper Two, consisting of the three modules we have studied this year.

It is now 6:15. Having spent three consecutive non-stop hours of hard work, I got a fright. When I looked up at my computer screen, everything seemed to be unfocused! My eyes appear to have gotten better, but words are still a little hazy…

I must have concentrated too hard on my own writing. This is really scary. I’m gonna take a rest break now, and hope my eyes aren’t f***ed up.

Good luck to me for tomorrow.

On Myself

Having achieved poor marks in assessments quite a while back now, I gave up on games (more specifically, computer/video games) for a while, just as one might give up smoking, or some other ‘addiction’ (not that I was addicted to games of course). The purpose was quite obvious: to focus on school work and my studies.

Unfortunately, it seems my marks have not increased quite as much as I would have liked. True, my English has improved quite a bit, but in areas such as Maths and Biology, I am still sadly lacking. It seems that my habit of ‘bludging’ extended past gaming.

I found myself easily distracted. Suffice to say, my piano skills have improved admirably, but my studying skills have not…

With Trials coming up in a week and a bit, it is worrying. What’s slightly comforting, is that there is about a month between the Trials and the real HSC. Time to get seriously serious. Seriously.
